Pella is home to one of the most well-known figures of the Old West. As a young boy, Wyatt Earp and his family moved to Pella in 1849, and the they lived in the area until 1864.

The boyhood home of Wyatt Earp and his family still stands in its original location as part of the Pella Historical Village. The Wyatt Earp Experience is open for self-guided audio tours.

​

 

Each year, Pella Historical Museums hosts Wyatt Earp Day, celebrating the life and times of Pella's most infamous resident.
